Public Toilets

Public toilets in Milngavie Youth Centre have been upgraded and are now open to the public every day and all year round to everyone (both locals and WHW walkers) and is a great asset for Milngavie to have, this was a joint venture with EDC, youth centre, BID, MCC and us. There is also a new “Waypoint” building beside MYC which to be made available to local groups and hopefully become and information centre.

Refurbish CE Centre pond and surrounds

Through crowdfunding and EDC we have successfully installed a new island which the swans have already made good use of, the surrounding area has also seen new plants, a good tidy up. MCC donated a new picnic bench and EDC have confirmed they will refurbish the supply pump to the fountain in the pond and remove the algae. This was the result of positive working between MCDT and EDC and other local groups and further improvements are planned.

Built assets

We played a very small part as corporate partners in securing Gavins Mill which is a great meeting place, it also holds courses for young people with additional needs where they are shown how to grow their own food which once harvested can be used in the kitchen of Gavins Mill

Income from the Allander River

Dundee University is currently conducting a feasibility study as to whether we are able to generate an income from the flow of the Allander River. Given that it is historically one of the reasons for the existence of Milngavie we are hopeful that this long term proposal will enable renewable energy both as being environmentally friendly and a source of income.
